Is not dieting or depriving, neither it is applying any labels. To be completely honest I hate labels, imprisoning yourself in rules and regimes can be very tiring and stressful thus it can take away the joy of eating. I don’t eat gluten and lactose because I have an intolerance to them. Otherwise, my philosophy is all about eating a balanced diet, consuming whole foods which can be traced backed to their real source.
it is about natural cooking, using fresh and nutrient-rich ingredients, adding more veggies and fruits, getting more protein, using the right fats and eating more quality meat.
What it is not about would be processed foods (typically foods that have a very long shelf life or contain ingredients that cannot be pronounced) refined and processed sugar, dairy, meat that I don’t know its source (where and how it was raised and fed)
Most of the time I try creating recipes that are easy to digest while at the same time don’t lack any of the important nutrients.
While I was living in France, I learned one of the best rules for better digestion, and it looked something like this:
choose the ingredients carefully, cook them with love, sit when you eat, take your time and chew the food thoroughly
(You all have probably heard how the lunch in France lasts for 3 hours)
The best advice I can give to anyone suffering from some digestive problem (or any other health problems) is starting a food journal, that way you will be able to see which foods work best with you. What is good for me doesn’t necessarily means that will be good for you too, after all, we are all different.
And for all the others who just want to change their diet for a different reason, or start to eat a little healthier, avoiding the processed foods, cutting off the refined sugar and adding more veggies on your plate, could be a good start.
