🌟 Why You Will Love This Smoothie

    • Creamy: Despite not having yogurt, this smoothie has a naturally creamy texture thanks to frozen bananas.
    • Dairy-Free Option: If you want to make it vegan or daisy-free simply replace the milk for a plant-based alternative.
    • Naturally Sweet: The bananas provide natural sweetness, so there’s no need for added sugar.

    🍌Ingredients & Substitutes

ingredients needed to make banana smoothie recipe

Bananas: I recommend using frozen bananas as that will give you that rich and creamy consistency. If using fresh bananas, add a few ice cubes to achieve the same consistency.

Milk of Choice: Regular or plant-based milk (such as almond, oat, or coconut milk) works well. If you don’t have any milk, you can also use water.

Vanilla Extract: Adds a subtle sweetness and goes so well with the banana flavor. However, if you don’t have any vanilla extract, just omit it; the smoothie will still taste just as good.

Cinnamon: Similar to the vanilla extract, the cinnamon pairs well with the banana flavor and gives the smoothie a touch of warmth.

Nut Butter (Optional): If you’ve got some nut butter on hand, toss it in for a rich, creamy boost and healthy fats. Almond, peanut, or cashew butter goes well with the banana flavor!

🥣 How to make this Smoothie

Step 1- Add ingredients to a blender and blend

Place the bananas, milk, vanilla, cinnamon, and nut butter (if using) into a blender or food processor. Plus, briefly combine, then blend on high speed until smooth and creamy.

    Step 2- Serve

Pour the smoothie into glasses and serve right away!

    📖 Storage Instructions

Serve immediately: This smoothie has the best texture when served immediately.

Fridge: Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 24 hours. Give it a good shake or stir before drinking, as natural separation can happen.

Freezing: To freeze, pour the smoothie into an ice cube tray, and before drinking it, simply blend the frozen smoothie cubes.

    REcipe Variations

    • Chocolate Banana Smoothie: Add a tablespoon of cocoa powder or chocolate protein powder.
    • Tropical Twist: If you are craving something slightly more fruity and refreshing, blend in ⅓ of a cup of mango or pineapple.
    • Smoothie bowl: To turn this smoothie into a smoothie bowl, simply decrease the amount of milk
    • Spiced Banana Smoothie: You can add a pinch of nutmeg, ginger, or cardamom.
    • Banana Date Smoothie: If you want a slightly sweeter smoothie, blend in 1 or 2 softened, pitted dates. This will also give you a slightly caramel taste to your smoothie.

    👩🏻‍🍳 Expert Tips

    • Use Frozen Bananas: Using frozen bananas will create that thick and creamy texture without the need for ice cream or yogurt.
    • Adjust the Consistency: If the smoothie is too thick, gradually add more milk. If too thin, add extra frozen bananas or ice cubes.
    • Blend in Stages: Start by pulsing the ingredients to mix, then blend on high speed for the smoothest consistency.
